About the event

Welcome to the Black LGBTQ Human Book Experience. This experience helps to create safer spaces for dialogue where topics are discussed openly with our human books and their readers. Participants are all volunteers with personal lived experiences on their topic. The Black LGBTQ Human Book Experience is where difficult questions are expected, appreciated, and answered. This experience is a hands-on learning platform via personal conversations to challenge stigma and stereotypes. Every human book represents a group in our society that is often subjected to prejudice, stigmatization, or discrimination because of their lifestyle, diagnosis, belief, disability, social status, ethnic origin, etc. This event is an adaptation of the Human Library, or “Menneskebiblioteket” as it is called in Danish, created in Copenhagen in the spring of 2000.
