About the event
In partnership with Lambda Archives, The San Diego Black LGBTQ Coalition is creating a documentary to showcase the lives and experiences of the San Diego Black LGBTQ community. We would like to speak to all letters of the LGBTQ acrononym and focus on three specific folx who represent different letters of the acrononym to ensure diverse representation of experiences. We would also like to ask you about your experiences and what it's like for you to #ExistBlackly as a member of the Black community as well as LGBTQ in San Diego. If you're not a native but from somewhere else, we'd love to hear how your experience compares and contrasts to other places where you have had to exist. Topics include what is it like to #ExistBlackly and also LGBTQ in the workplace, in using mobile social applications like Tinder or Grindr, in the "gay scene" also typically known as Hillcrest, establishments where you feel seen, places you don't feel seen, where do you go for a sense of community, your feelings on ways our local, state, and federal government are handling issues that have impeded our communities for what seems like always, and more. If this sounds interesting to you, please RSVP and join our first meeting to create this historical documentary of Black LGBTQ Lives in San Diego. We are currently still reviewing and taking applications for a videographer and an interviewer (both which come with a stipend).
